JESSE JONES

Jesse Jones is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design (BA, 2002), and the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design (MA, 2005). She has held solo exhibitions throughout the U.K.; and has participated in numerous international group exhibitions, such as ‘I Have Doubts’, Centre for Visual Introspection, Bucharest, Romania (2009); ‘Ubersong’, Plan 9, Bristol, UK (March 2009); ‘Historians of the Present 2’, Ghost of Buildings, Blancpain Art Contemporain, Geneva (2009); ‘Nought to Sixty’, ICA, London (2008), and The 11th International Istanbul Biennial (2009).

Whilst in residence Jesse Jones collaborated with studio artists DAMP to produce a new video work Mahogany.  Based on the 1927 Bertolt Brecht play “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahogany”, this work was premiered at the Istanbul Biennial in 2009 and is to be exhibited at Gertrude in early 2010.

Jesse Jones visited Melbourne as part of Gertrude Contemporary and Firestation Studios (Dublin) Reciprocal Residency program, which is generously supported by the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria.
