programs

As part of Gertrude Contemporary’s commitment to fostering both the production and presentation of contemporary art we facilitate a range of programs that help support, expand and critically engage with our Exhibitions and Studio Artist Program.

Our education programs are access-oriented and provide curriculum-aligned information to teachers and students. Current education programs include Gertrude’s core education program, ARTNOW and teacher professional development program, Contemporary Art on the Road.

Gertrude Contemporary has a residential studio program for visiting international and interstate artists, curators, writers and cultural producers. The Norma Redpath Residency is housed in the Norma Redpath Studio, Carlton and facilitated in conjunction with The Centre of Visual Art (CoVA) at the University of Melbourne.

Established in 2002 the Gertrude Editions is an annual series of specially commissioned limited-edition works of art. The Editions help to raise, much-needed funds to support both Gertrude artistic program and core operations. These are available for purchase through our online store.

In addition to this, since 2005, Gertrude has helped to foster a culture of critical discussion through our Emerging Writers Program.
