HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO VISIT THE GALLERY?

Admission is always free.


WHEN IS THE GALLERY OPEN?

Gertrude Contemporary at 21-31 High St, Preston South is open:
Tuesday–Sunday 11am-5pm. 

Gertrude Glasshouse at 44 Glasshouse Road, Collingwood is open:
Thursday–Saturday, 12–5pm. 

Both galleries are closed on public holidays, and for installation between exhibitions.  

Gertrude Contemporary and Gertrude Glasshouse close over summer from late December to late January each year. During this period the galleries are closed to the public and we do not respond to correspondence.

 


CAN I TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS INSIDE THE GALLERY?

Yes, without flash. Please seek permission in person from the front desk.


DO I NEED TO BOOK IN SCHOOL GROUPS AND TOURS?

Yes, we offer both paid and free options for tours.

IS GERTRUDE CONTEMPORARY A COMMERCIAL GALLERY?

Gertrude Contemporary is a not-for-profit gallery and studio complex. Gertrude Contemporary does not represent artists or sell artworks, nor does the organisation charge gallery rental. 

Gertrude Contemporary receives operational funding from Creative Victoria; The Visual Arts and Crafts Strategy, an initiative of the Australian, State and Territory Governments; and the Australia Council for the Arts. Gertrude Contemporary is also supported through sponsorships and individual philanthropy.

HOW CAN I APPLY FOR A STUDIO AT GERTRUDE?

Gertrude Contemporary has 16 large, non-residential studios, which are available by application once per year.

Gertrude Contemporary manages a short-term residency program for international artist and curators. Selection for this program is currently by invitation only.
