DELCY MORELOS (COLOMBIA)

Born in Tierra Alta/Córdoba, Colombia Delcy Morelos now lives and works in Bogotá. Her works, created using diluted pigments, built layer by layer over the course of months, explore the constant tension that exists between matter, color, and the body. Selected exhibitions include Sin Titulo, Delcy Morelos at Mde07, Espacios de Hospitalidad in Medellín, Colombia (2007); Delcy Morelos at Gt Gallery in Belfast, UK (2006); Flaxarts Studios Residence Program in Belfast, UK (2006); Obstaculo at Museo de Arte Moderno de Barranquilla in Barranquilla, Colombia (2005); Corporal: Contemporary Women Artists from Latin America at the Schmidt Center Gallery in Boca Raton, Florida (2004); and the 2nd Bienal de Buenos Aires at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires (2002). Morelos’ residency at Gertrude Contemporary was in conjunction with Irregular Hexagon: Colombian Art in Residence presented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia.
