Guy Benfield has been actively involved with exhibitions, performances and projects for artist-run spaces and publicly-funded galleries since 1991. He has held individual exhibitions at 1st Floor, Melbourne 2002; Studio 12, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne 2001; the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne 2001; Penthouse and Pavement, Melbourne 2000; 1st Floor, Melbourne 2000; City Lights, Melbourne 2000, Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Canberra 1999; Talk Artists’ Initiative, Melbourne 1999; and 200 Gertrude Street, Melbourne 1995. Guy’s work has been represented in numerous group exhibitions including Project Room, Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne Art Fair, Royal Exhibition Buildings, Melbourne 2002, Love Stories, 1st Floor, Melbourne 2002; Paintings Are Ace, Linden Arts Centre, Melbourne 2000; Blink — Dreaming at Twilight, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne 2000; Surface, International Residency Program, Banff Centre for Arts, Banff 1999; The Bridge — Construction in Process, 187 Collins Street, Melbourne 1998 and Aerphost – An Australian Survey, The Debtors Prison, Dublin 1995. Recently, Guy has presented a number of live performances including; French Pup, Centre for Contemporary Photography 2001 and Hiace Van, Penthouse and Pavement 2000.
