KIT: THE TOWER OF COTIS (CULT OF THE INSERTER SEAT)

KIT is a collaboration between artists, architects, landscape designers and java script developers in Britain, Canada and Australia. Through its activities, KIT seeks to address a wide range of theoretical issues including the influence of the media on contemporary identity and the problematic issue of interactivity in visual arts practice. KIT’s ambitious installation The Tower of C.O.T.I.S. (Cult of the Inserter Seat) encompassed the wrecked body of a small aircraft ’crash landed’ in the gallery. The exhibition also included a sound component, consisting of ‘black box’ recordings from crashed aeroplanes to explore the interface between the body and technology.
