THE AGENTS

This project consisted of a collaboration between Gertrude Studio Artist Nathan Gray and Arts Project Australia artists Christina Hayes, Chris Mason and Chris O’Brien. The Agents is an artist group that grew out of working together at the Arts Project Australia studios. This exhibtion in Gertrude Contremporary's Studio 12 marks their first major collaboration.

The Agents transformed Studio 12 into a decrepit suburban lounge room, complete with windows, fireplace and soiled old furniture compiling the general detritus of everyday life. An empty window support divided the space, and acted as a viewing platform from which to view the room’s interior, which contained a number of sculptural objects, including handmade models of the room itself. Employing a DIY aesthetic and an accumulation of mundane details, The Agents elevated the typical lounge room into a site of pseudo-ethnographical inquiry.

The Agents was formed from a common love of dressing up, old houses and Top Gear's mysterious driver 'The Stig'

"just go out there and drive fast..."
