DANIEL ARSHAM: PLAYGROUND

Daniel Arsham

Playground

Front Gallery

For Playground Daniel Arsham created an unsettling environment where the body is submerged by the architecture that encapsulates it. Of his own work Arsham states “My work believes that architecture is malleable. That surfaces are more about defining the boundaries of a space than enclosing it. As walls and floors and ceilings insulate, they create intimacy and scale. Their purpose is to provide comfort, not enclosure. Whether I paint or sculpt I aim to transform space and toy with preconceptions of boundaries drawn between nature and architecture."
