STUDIO 12 | PENELOPE AITKEN: AN ONGOING CONVERSTATION IN A RECLINING POSITION ON MATTERS DEEP AND PERSONAL

Studio 12 Exhibition

Penelope Aitken’s paintings depict objects of sentimental and personal significance in meticulous detail and often employ serial production as a means of extending the metaphoric resonance of her representations. Aitken’s installation in Studio 12 consisted of several pillows made from white nylon, suspended throughout the space and lit with a ‘blacklight’ to create an ethereal and poetic space of contemplation and perception.
