NONE MORE BLACKER

None More Blacker explored the influence of glam rock and heavy metal music in relation to contemporary Australian art. Produced as the second in a series of exhibitions developed by emerging curators, None More Blacker revealed glam and metal as rich and enduring resources for contemporary artists — from the spectacle of stadium rock to the sexual and personal identities contrived through lifestyle and performance. Launched with a teenage all-girl rock band playing on the back of a truck at the opening, and attracting huge attendances and media interest, None More Blacker was developed as a touring exhibition, also travelling through regional galleries in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland in 2002-3.

Presented as part of the Melbourne Fashion Festival. Supported By Arts Victoria, Australia Council, Gordon Darling Foundation, Nets (Victoria), Visions Australia.
