STUDIO 12 | DAMIANO BERTOLI: LAGRANGE

Studio 12 Exhibition

Damiano Bertoli's sculptural installations and wall-based work investigate the perceptual properties of light and colour in complex abstract, architectural and pop-cultural configurations. In Lagrange, a darkened Studio 12 was reconfigured into an other-worldly sci-fi zone in which time and space stood still. Using black light and fluorescent paint, Bertoli created a disorienting scenography inspired by video games and disaster narratives, not un-reminiscent of the sci-fi film Tronâ. An asteroid form lay dormant at the centre of a disrupted architecture. As visitors carefully navigated their way around the incident, examining the evidence of the narrative moment frozen in time, they became subjects of a time and space removed from everyday perception.
