Renee So's monumental installation comprised a house, garden, and interior decor constructed from knitted and woven wool and fabrics. Investing in the histories and traditions of women’s craft practices, Inspirational Contents of Living represented an intense labour of love in its faithful replication of a domestic space. Knitting in So's work might be understood as a medium to encourage dreaming and imagination. The construction of the work was also reminiscent of the pixilated graphics of video games, with viewers encouraged to physically enter the installation, in order to encounter personal objects; a cup and saucer, the artists favourite records, pot plants and memorabilia within an interior, contemplative space for exchange and reflection.
