STUDIO 12 | BEN MORIESON: FEATURE-ISM

Studio 12 Exhibition

Ben Morieson’s installation Feature-ism alluded to the traditions of earthworks, land art and performance art through the works of such artists as Dennis Oppenheim, Walter de Maria and Richard Long. A collection of asphalt slabs, which were framed and displayed in the gallery with an almost archaeological exactitude, bore the indelible marks of burnt out rubber tracing left by cars on the road. Choreographed in the context of a nearby car park, where the artist directed drag-car drivers to perform features and burnouts, the asphalt sections were then reinstalled as a floor arrangement in Studio 12.
