STUDIO 12 | CHAD CHATTERTON: DEATH WORK

Studio 12 Exhibition

Chad Chatterson continued his fascination with game theory in his installation Death Work. In Studio 12, set on a white plinth shaped like a Space Invaders console, was a maze-like arrangement of modular acrylic blocks. Some shaped like small staircases, others cuboid, they resembled both the virtual field of video games and historical and virtual architectures. With Death Work, Chatterson investigated the possibility that there are some innate human needs for a form of death-play. A condition, he has suggested, that has risen from society’s insistence on the concealment of death.
